The 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre adheres to the pure and simple slasher movie formula: Introduce a gaggle of sexy young people, make vague gestures to distinguish them–Jessica Biel (Summer Catch) wants to get married and doesn’t like pot, so she’s our moral compass–then start hacking them to pieces one by one. The visual palette includes grimy … More >>

  1. This is not my kind of film in any sense of the word. But, hey — I like to explore new things. I was one of the few adults in the theater. Everyone else seemed to be 16 years old or less. They screamed throughout. And so did I. That’s because this was a scary movie. Very scary.

It was also sick, disgusting and gruesome.

It’s about a group of young people who get lost, have awful things happen to them, and then get murdered one by one. The people in the town were all weird with agendas of their own which was never made clear. As far as the acting goes, I guess it was all right. I just didn’t really notice. Technical effects made the horror more real than real and there is lots of blood as arms and legs get chopped off and people get hung up on meat hooks. My feeling throughout was one of nausea. I even thought about getting up and walking out. What plot there was was confused and not worth even trying to follow. And by the end of the film, I had completely lost any appetite for dinner.

Clearly, this is one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Stay away. Stay away. Stay away.

  2. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.(ITS THE TRUTH) JESSICA BIEL (7TH HEAVEN) IN A TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE REMAKE? WHATS NEXT SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR AND FREDDIE PRINZE JR. IN A TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 REMAKE??? (SHE CAN PLAY STRETCH AND FREDDIE CAN PLAY LEFTY..I CAN SEE IT NOW/ THE TRUTH IS IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY ANYMORE. I CANT STAND WATCHING HOLLYWOOD MAKE A JOKE OUT OF CLASSIC HORROR MOVIES TO TURN OVER FOR A QUICK PROFIT. ITS LIKE HAVING A DOG FOR YEARS AND THEN FINALLY DECIDING TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET AND HAVE HIS YOO-HOO CHOPPED OFF/ SPEAKING OF WHICH I WAS JUST WONDERING IF IT WAS ME OR NOT BUT DOESNT HOLLYWOOD SEEM TO BE GOING SOFT CORE ANYMORE…LOOK AT ALL THE TROUBLE ROB ZOMBIE HAD TO GO THROUGH WITH HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES.(THAT MOVIES IS A LOT LESS GRAPHIC THAN ANY OF YOUR OLD 80S CHEESY SLASHER B-MOVIES) EVER SINCE SCREAM (SORRY WES) THE WHOLE NEW OUTLOOK ON HORROR MOVIES WENT RIGHT DOWN THE TOILET WITH MR HANKY. IF YOUE ARE THINKING ABOUT WATCHING THIS MOVIE DONT! I ALSO STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM ANY REMAKE/MOVIE THAT HAS A CAST THAT INVOLVES RAP STARS, POP STARS, MODELS, OR ANY CAST MEMBERS FROM THE WB CHANNEL. IF YOU WANT SEE THE GOOD STUFF I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO CHECK OUT SOME OF THE OLDER HORROR CLASSICS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE OVERLOOKED OR TAKE A CHANCE WITH A INDEPENDENT OR DIRECT TO VIDEO MOVIE.

  3. TCM is really based on a true story. Ed Geen. If you’ve never heard of him then watch House of 1000 Corpses. The remake of the classic TCM is excellent… Trust me, I was at the premiere. It’s even more terrifying than the original, believe me! It’s based on the real events in Texas and The Silence of the Lambs. Those of you who say a good movie is SOTL should see this movie. It’s even better and more frightening than it is made out to be. See this movie!

PS ~ If anyone knows the name of the song played in the trailer, write it in a review.

  4. I’m sorry, but anyone who is a fan of the Tobe Hooper (look it up teeny boppers) classic “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” should NOT see this movie. Why? Because it’s awful! There was no point to remaking this fine film other than some producer said “Hey, I need more money for my Scrooge McDuck money bin….let’s remake “T.C.M.!” I almost wish that I had never seen this movie. The theater was full of teenagers, who had quite obviously never seen the original, much like the people writing reviews here on Amazon, and they were scared out of their wits. I, along with the fellow Hooper fans in the theater, laughed our way through this horribly unscary and horribly unnesscessary remake of an already scary film. The original film make me sick and stayed on my mind for days after I had witnessed it. The original was scary because it didn’t try to come up with some half-assed explanation for why Leatherface was insane…he just was. Oh, and R. Lee Ermey in a horror film? Don’t think so. He’s just too damn funny to scare anyone. Where was the canabalism? Where was Leatherface’s f’ed up brother, and his crazy Pa? Where were the scary moments? Tobe Hooper showed us that what you don’t see is FAR scarier than what you do see. To the people who disagree with this statement – you have no imagination. Pass this one over, as its just another reason with what’s wrong in Hollywood – recylced ideas and unoriginal remakes. Oh, and I almost shot myself when I saw the preview for the “Dawn Of The Dead” remake – where does it end? Is nothing sacred?! What’s next? “Suspiria?” To those of you who call yourselves ‘Horror Film’ fans and don’t know “D.O.T.D.” or “Suspiria” – you should be ashamed of yourselves. Much like the people who think that this film is better than the original. For shame!

  5. I saw the original and I loved it and I went and watched the remake. Was this really the remake?
Though it was a good remake was this really a remake or a sequal?

1.I dont remeber seeing a girl blow her brains out in a van.
2.I dont remeber the main character saving a kid in the original.
3.Were was the guy in the weel chair?
4.Was this really inspired by a true story?….

I dont get why they ruind a classic.
They are ruining the movies reputation.
And now there gonna do it with dawn of the dead.
    FOR SHAME!!!!!
I enjoyed this movie in some bizaro way but how can we
relate this to a remake? Cmon now…….

Its a good movie but if it is a remake it doesnt live up
to the hype. Well At least for me. But that girl from 7th heaven is hot!
Check the movie out for your self if you want.
