Long time partners Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan investigate a series of vigilante killings in a gritty and sophisticated New York City crime thriller. In theatres September 12th. Righteous Kill Academy Awardยฎ winners Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) and Al Pacino (Scent of a Woman) star as a pair of veteran New York City police detectives on the trail of a vigilante serial killer in the adrenaline fueled psychological thriller Righteous Kill, directed by Jon Avnet (Red Corner, Fried Green Tomatoes) and written by Russell Gewirtz (Inside Man). The cast also features hip-hop superstar Curtis Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin’). After 30 years as partners in the pressure cooker environment of the NYPD, highly decorated Detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready for retirement, but aren’t. Before they can hang up their badges, they are called in to investigate the murder of a notorious pimp, which appears to have ties to a case they solved years before. Like the original murder, the victim is a suspected criminal whose body is found accompanied by a four line poem justifying the killing. When additional crimes take place, it becomes clear the detectives are looking for a serial killer, one who targets criminals that have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system. His mission is to do what the cops can’t do on their ownโ€”take the culprits off the streets for good. The similarities between the recent killings and their earlier case raise a nagging question: Did they put the wrong man behind bars? 1. I personally thought this movie was good, enjoyable and somewhat underrated… though I can certainly understand the criticism, and it’s all valid.

De Niro and Pacino are legendary, as always. The script/storyline was pretty average, however, and I found myself wishing that 50 Cent really did meet the same fate as his character in the film.

Without De Niro and Pacino, this film wouldn’t even count as average. As is, though, they really pull this one out of the gutter… I would see it again.

It’s not enough to gather Pacino and De Niro, you have to give them a great story and not cast a 50 Cent.come on!

  20. it was a wierd ending. but good movie

  21. this movie wasnt good…

  22. I was surprised by the end too, great film. Both of them are great, but this film could have been even better with them in their prime. Very good vigilante type film as a whole. Too many police corruption movies now days forgewt the the audience has to simpathize with the character in order to buy their cover actions. One of the best films of this type in recent history.

  23. They should have made this film when they were still in their prime. Amazing actors but too old to pull off these type of characters.

  24. I did not like the ending, but it was nice to see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together again.
