  1. The idiot before me should be punished for this review.

This movie was a waste of Frank Castle and a script.

Marvel will never get this movie right because they simply don’t understand the character.

  2. Need proof that some of the reveiws here are made by people getting paid to do so? Some people actually gave this movie 5 stars!!! What a joke. This movie is almost if not worst than Catwoman (I’m not kidding). The acting is horrible. Don’t they screen the movies before they release them in theaters? I agree that the previous Punisher movie wasn’t as good either but It sure as hell A LOT better than this one. Hell, I’ll even watch the Dolph Lundren version than this crap.

  3. I watched this movie thinking that they could not possibly make a worse movie than the first punisher. By god they did it! This may be the worste movie of the past few years. I have no idea how anyone who is not under the age of 10 could give this movie more than 1 star. If you are a fan of logic and cinema, then I suggest staring at your tv instead of watching this movie, its time much more well spent.

The acting in this movie is among the worste that ive seen as well. The actor who plays jigsaw (his name escapes me) can be found in the HBO show The Wire, where his acting was actually good. In this movie he puts on a fake Italian accent that would make anyone shutter. The person who plays the punisher (whos name also escapes me) could be seen oddly enough on another HBO show – Rome… again a much better experience than this movie.

I can handle violence and hard action in any movie, as long as it doesnt come off as cheesey.. and holy crap… this is so cheesey that its rediculous.

I would suggest this movie if you are a child aged 9-15 or if you are a non english speaking action movie fan.

Seriously, just skip it and rent Rome or The Wire season 1.

  4. This ranks up there with one of the worst comic book movies of all time. It’s at least as bad as Batman and Robin, Catwoman, and Elektra if not worse.

The biggest let down of this movie is the Punisher himself. What the first movie did right was it created a character we could care about. We had sympathy for the guy as we had just seen his entire family murdered. That Punisher had a purpose. This Punisher’s character is as thin as the comic pages he’s printed on. He doesn’t even talk for the first 30min of the movie. And then we’re supposed to care when Don from 3rd Rock from the Sun is kidnapped. Why is Don in this movie?

And then there’s Scarface…I mean Jigsaw. Compare him with Heath Ledger’s Joker and this guy is about as menacing as the robbers in Home Alone. It was PAINFUL watching the guy look in the mirror and then start crying. The guy may have killed people in brutal ways but he was one of the most corny villains in any comic book movie to date.

Fans of the comic say this one is more true to the source material than the first movie was. If that’s the case, then I guess I wouldn’t like the comic if I read it because this movie was pure junk. It was so bad it was boring. When the woman is pointing the gun at the Punisher and he told her to squeeze…I was really hoping she would. But then her stupid son had to break in and say “Mom, where’s my red pen? I need it!” Wow…

After seeing this movie, it’s completely understandable why Thomas Jane didn’t want to have anything to do with it.

The Punisher War Zone punishes…the people who watch it.

  5. I can’t believe that I’m seeing reviews that favor Ray Stevenson over Thomas Jane. Thomas Jane did such more justice to the character. I could believe Jane’s angst and drive, but Stevenson looks like he’s about to cry in every scene. I miss Thomas Jane and I wish audiences would have responded the way I have, because this display of the Punisher, is Frankly embarassing.

If anyone deserves credit, it’s the villains and the art direction. I liked the color pallet as well as some action. Dominic West and Doug Hutchinson are really fun to watch as villains.

    Here’s What Went Wrong

Ray Stevenson is not hardcore. He’s mopey and not realistic.

Punisher’s relationship with the woman and little girl needed a lot more work. I doubt a man in a full black outfit in the middle of the night can generate a warm conversation with a child. How did she not get frightened by him or her mother pointing a gun in his face? Good campy is The Spirit. This is bad campy

The action gets sloppy and everyone starts feeling like clay. Necks become as fragile as feathers. The first, well technically second, Punisher was practical and its action scenes had realistic carnage. Punisher: War Zone seems like Saw on cocaine.

The acrobats. I shouldn’t even get started. They are professional overactors.

The writers really need to come up with material that doesn’t insult my intelligence as a comic book fan. Comics are very smart works of art. Writing does not increase your budget. Use the brain inside your skull.

Lionsgate must find a happy medium between these two films if we are to see any more of the Punisher. What this film did well is create interesting villains for the Punisher. It would have been outstanding to see them in another Jonathan Hensleigh directed, Thomas Jane Punisher. They had all the right hope and ideas, they were just not well produced. We like Wolverine and the Punisher because they are the most indomitable men in the heat of every battle. Ray Stevenson appeared dominated from the get-go. Please take your next Punisher, if there is one, more delicately. Hopefully Marvel will regain their rights back, because this film is in my collection for I am a Marvel freak. I honestly wouldn’t have given it a chance if I hadn’t become a comic book movie collector.
