  1. He looked bloated, tired…perhaps a little melancholy. In his performance, his songs felt dated and you know, in the hands of an more enthusiastic performance or performer, these songs are unarguably timeless!

This is not the concert I wanna remember the man in. Apparently, “going down memory lane” with a greatest hits premise has made the master’s performance look even more tired. His solo work was listless and uninspired (particularly the harmonica solo in his opening “All Blues” segment) His band was/is capable, but they didn’t seem to embody the music much, with the exception of the drummer, IMHO! (Often, it’s a reoccurring danger for an seasoned act that has been around for 30+ years to do “greatest hits” tours: it doesn’t take long before the act begin to look and sound like a covers band STARRING the original members.)

Stevie’s most recent record “A Time For Love” proved to me that he still had something to say musically, poetically and politically. Perhaps he should retire from gigging publicly and do something he might really love doing at this point of his life. Political activism, maybe? 😉

(I’m definitely SO ready for him to publish his memoirs then get on the morning talk show circuit to support it. :))

  2. After seeing Stevie play live in the early 90s, in what I believe was one of the best concerts I have been to, I bought this DVD with much anticipation. What a disappointment. Talk about the emperor’s new clothes. Dull, lifeless with an over focus focus on insipid love songs (nothing wrong with love songs), but its a concert not a quiet evening in. The energy and the on-your feet response I expereienced live is sadly missing and looking at the audience was missing for them to. What promised so much – a real waste of money.

  3. Did I really pay 11.99 for this DVD?

All of this material here is an update to previous versions (live cd , studio cd’s etc). He is the master and the band and his arrangments are an amazing update .

    Everybody wants to know

what is STEVIE UP TO THESE DAYS?

HE HAS BEEN GIGGIN’ AND JAMMIN WITH THIS WONDERFUL BAND!

Now we know why Steveland has not released a LIVE DVD TILL NOW!

The best songs , best singin’, best band , and new wonderful arrangements.

THE consumate performer , musician , and bandleader .

I could not state this any clearer .Live at Last

  4. just go out and buy the bluray version…

thanks for giving us the full show, unlike some other bands that EDIT/CUT etc…(i.e. Live, Live at Paradiso, maybe Ed is reading this); the fans want the whole show period!) Thanks Stevie!

am still trying to tweak the audio settings….

any audiophiles out there, am running a Denon 3803 w/ Martin Logans in front only….. via optical…

lpcm vs d5.1 v dts??? have been trying to decide what offers the best clarity and sound ….

also anyone AT the London show; verify who was playing the electric roland drum kit set up to SW keyboards????

  5. I saw this DVD playing on a large theatre system in a HiFi shop. It impressed me with great shots of the musicians and great sound.

Unfortunately we were unable to get tickets when Stevie played Auckland in October 2008 because he had to return to support Barack Obama in his successful bid for the Presidency. So having a recording of the show has double the significance for me. A very fine recording and excellent performance by this timeless performer who seems to really enjoy the experience and takes his audience with him. Highly recomended.
