India under a Dollar: Pirated DVD's being sold on the street

Media piracy is an ill-defined crime that is very difficult to control. As a result many different types of it are practiced every second by people across the world. One of the more popular forms is visible on the streets of poorer countries whose law-enforcers have more important problems to deal with: street vendors. These people sell physical copies of all types of media, whether they be DVDs, Blu-rays, Music CDs, or Video-games; and they are cheap. In India one DVD with five or six different films on them will cost just 30 Rs, an absolute bargain in a country where watching just one film will often cost at least ten times that amount. With such bargains available, how can people resist breaking the law, especially when most of the time the only victims are the world’s largest media conglomerates?
