I love this game. My 12 year old son loves this game. Very beautifully done. I have payed a lot more $ for games that are just BLAH. This one is worth every dollar! Lots of online support if you get stuck-which is always helpful (Why can't I beat this guy???). There needs to be more reviews of this-I hope more are left soon. It's a great staple for your game collection. Of course, it's not Zelda-but its not $60 either. I love them both. If you want tons of gore -don't get this. If you want a nice fun challenge with beautiful and unique graphics-get this game. I would easily pay twice as much for this game-It is WAY under priced.
Mechanics and look of the game are fluid and pleasing. However, it is very repetitive once you explore most of the map less than halfway through the game. With little hints where to go, it either becomes checking every corner of the maps you’ve been a dozen times and looking up a guide. Progress seems too slow, difficulty spikes, and playing becomes kind of tedious after about 10 hours.
Reminds me again of the great gameplay of metroid-like games where you can't reach areas without certain items or upgrades you find by exploring. Using the switch Joycon controllers I've noticed if I get in a tough battle I will accidentally press the wrong button and waste some soul power on a move I didn't want to do. A pro controller might work better for those like me with fat fingers. You will fight some baddies with fast moves that require some quick reflexes to dodge. When you die you lose all of your money you found by beating each enemy. But you keep all your weapons and items. ALSO they mark on the map where you died so you can go back and pick up your money once you beat your own black soul floating there where you died! Very fun to play so I'm trying not to just run through the whole thing all at once and spread it out over many days/weeks. I'm also avoiding any walkthroughs to figure out where to go next on my own by just exploring. It has a map so you can use that to see where you haven't been yet.
