And here’s a bit from my Framed In Film segments on TV: In the Climatic scene when Henry Daniell as Moriarty tells Holmes to sign his name, Basil signs the letter: Basil Rathbone and even crosses the “t”.

I must admit my benevolent addiction to Sherlock Holmes which has lasted many years. This package provides visual enjoyment as well as audio adventure. Technically there may be those who find fault with the quality of the video portion of the package. However, there are also purists who would say most of the films are non-canonical, i.e.(not written by Arthur Conan Doyle). I believe the content of the package will please both fans of Sherlock Holmes as well as those of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. The latter two actors were the embodiment of the Great Detective and his amiable colleague for many years. Only with the advent of Jeremy Brett did we embrace a proper heir to the mantle of the Great Dectective. The collection of sights and sounds this set offers will please the interested novice as well us venerable older Sherlockians. Buy it for youself and or buy it for a good friend.

Many Enjoyable Hours have been spent watching Sherlock Holmes & I Am Looking Forward to More Episodes being offered. If they come in the boxed sets with Radio Shows included as this one did I will Purchase in a New York Second. One Hopes that since the Quality of the episodes is Not Great- that they offer the “colorized episodes”. Also Offer a suggestion to others who watch- Play the DVD thru your sound system, but turn off the screen. It’s distracting when you are listning to old time radio show & photo’s from old Movies not related at all are displayed. I would have Hoped that the stills displayed fireplaces, old radios, Photo’s of stars doing show, or just a blank screen. Is exceptional when effect is dark room, TV Picture off. etc. Brings back the good old days. Still Good- Could be Great.

Here is a gift to those of you who will see the “Woman In Green” about the finger murders….In the climatic scene when Henry Daniell as Moriarity dictates a suicide note and tells Holmes to “sign your name”, Basil Rathbone signs his real name, including crossing the “T” in his last name.

This collection is priceless for the radio shows alone….I have all these movies on tape and some on laser disc, but I jumped at the chance to get this boxed set…my question: when will we get the other 8 films on DVD.

The other reviews already point out the reasons not to buy this set. The ONLY reason to own it is for the 15 hours of radio shows starring Rathbone & Bruce. There are plenty of radio shows available with others playing Holmes & Watson, but the Rathbone/Bruce shows are hard to find. Is it worth over $… for these shows? Only for the die hard fan.
